A US-based Guyanese and a woman were robbed at gunpoint of $7.4m yesterday afternoon by two motorcycle bandits, the police say.
According to information reaching Stabroek News, around 12:00pm at Middle Street, Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara, Deomattie Seeram, a 31-year-old Manager and Deodat Ramdeo, were robbed by two males, one of whom was armed with a hand gun.
Prior to being robbed of the money, Seeram and Ramdeo had just returned to their home from a city bank after cashing a cheque valued at $7,450,000. After arriving at their Vryheid’s Lust home in a car, PSS 8528, Ramdeo exited the vehicle to open the gate and was subsequently pounced on by two males who arrived on a CG motorcycle.
One of the bandits approached Ramdeo and ordered him to lay on the ground, to which he complied while the other bandit, who was armed, approached Seeram in the driver’s seat. The bandit pointed the gun at the woman and relieved her of a bag that contained cash and other documents before making their escape in a western direction.
