Bandits on Monday afternoon broke into a Cummings Lodge businessman’s car and carted off his licensed firearm and $350,000 in cash while he was in the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) Head office, Brickdam transacting business.
Stabroek News understands that Tyrone Junior Hamilton, 34, parked his motorcar, PVV 4583 in the vicinity of Brickdam and Winter Place, Stabroek around 1.30 pm on Monday, leaving the items intact.
Upon returning an hour after, he discovered that the car had been broken into and the items were missing.
Reports are that Hamilton left home around 11.15 am on Monday for the Scotiabank, Robb Street branch to transact business.
He then left and went to North Road after which he journeyed to the NIS head office to conduct some other business.
A report was made to the Brickdam Police Station and an investigation has been launched.
