Statements were served on Wednesday to Lance Corporal Clifton Pellew, the City Constabulary rank charged with raping a juvenile in his custody at the constabulary’s Regent Street outpost last August.
The charge against Pellew alleged that he raped a child under the age of 16.
At an in-camera hearing before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown on Wednesday, police prosecutor Neville Jeffers served Pellew with statements.
His attorney, Darren Wade, made an application for bail for his client. However, this request was denied by the Chief Magistrate. Pellew was subsequently further remanded to prison and the matter was adjourned until March 1st, when it will be heard in the courtroom of Magistrate Leron Daly.
