Two robbery accused were yesterday slapped with additional charges, including for three separate carjackings, among which was the attack on cultural activist Ryhaan Shah.
Ex-policeman Timothy Waldron and co-accused Shawn Archibald, who were already on remand on robbery charges, yesterday faced three joint charges for armed robbery when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The first of the joint charges alleged that on November 4th, 2017, at Irving Street, Waldron and Archibald, armed with a gun, robbed Shah of a Toyota Allion, valued $4,000,000, a cellphone valued $10,000, groceries valued $5,000 and $15,000 cash.
The second charge alleged that on November 28th, at Pere Street, Kitty, the men, armed with a gun, robbed Nadir Williams of a Toyota Allion, valued $2,900,000.
They were also separately charged with robbing Williams of a Samsung Galaxy phone, valued $120,000, a handbag, valued $3,000, a wallet valued $10,000 and $10,000 cash.
Both men pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
Waldron by himself also faced three separate armed robbery charges.
It was alleged that on November 28th, at Pere Street, Kitty, Waldron robbed Renwick Lane of a Toyota Axio motorcar, valued $2,500,000.
It was also alleged that Waldron previously robbed Lane on June 16th, 2017, at Station Street, Kitty, of an iPhone 6S Plus valued $150,000, an iPhone valued $90,000, a TV valued $100,000, a quantity of clothing and boots valued $250,000.
Additionally, Waldron was charged with a second robbery on June 16th, when it is alleged that, armed with a gun, he robbed Roxanne Rambishun of $400,000 cash, an iPhone 7 Plus valued $200,000 an iPhone 6S Plus valued $150,000 and an iPad valued $200,000, total value $550,000.
Waldron pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
The prosecutor noted that both parties were positively identified during an identification parade and that the vehicle belonging to Shah was in the possession of the accused.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, who presided over the arraignment, subsequently refused bail and adjourned all the matters until March 5th, when they will be heard by Magistrate Judy Latchman.
