Sparta Boss will oppose Bent in the grand finale of the inaugural Magnum Mash Futsal Championship, following semi-final wins over Leopold Street and Silver Bullets respectively on Saturday.
Staged at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, Sparta Boss overcame Leopold Street 2-1. Jermaine Junior settled the outcome in front of a large crowd with a 40th minute penalty conversion, after Leopold Street had accumulated their sixth foul.
Junior slotted his powerful right foot strike into the top right hand corner, giving custodian Sesi Norville no chance.
Prior to the conclusion, Gregory Richardson handed Sparta Boss the lead in the seventh minute. However Darren Benjamin leveled proceedings with a 31st minute conversion.
Meanwhile, Bent Street defeated Silver Bullets of Linden 5-3.
Ryan Hackett bagged a double in the 10th and 31st minute, while Daniel Wilson scored twice in the 11th and 39th minute..
Chipping in with a 34th minute strike was Travis Lyken.
For the visitors, Jermaine Samuels, Damion Williams and Omar Williams scored in the fifth, 28th and 33rdminute respectively.
Up to press time, the finale and the traditional third place playoff was being conducted at the same venue. Winner of the tournament will pocket $400,000 and the championship trophy.
The runner-up will pocket $200,000 and the respective accolade, while the third and fourth placed teams will collect $100,000 and $50,000 respectively and the corresponding trophy.
The eight day event which commenced on Saturday 3rd at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, featured 32 teams battling for over $800,000 in cash and prizes in an initial group format.
Among the other prominent teams that competed were Gold is Money, Back Circle, Future Stars , Albouystown-A, Tiger Bay, New Market Street, Broad Street, North East La Penitence, Channel-9 Warriors, California Square, Showstoppers, MBK All-Stars, NK Ballers, Swag Entertainment, Ol Skool Ballers, Mocha, Buxton Diamond, YMCA and Ansa All-Stars.
