Yesterday, secondary school students toured the 1763 Rebellion commemorative exhibition being hosted at the National Archives.Archivist, Nadia Gamel-Carter, explained to the Department of Public Information (DPI) that the tour aims to highlight one of the most important events in Guyana’s history. The archivist also urged the students, apart from visiting the National Library, to utilise the services of the Archives whenever they required additional information about the country’s history. Some of the students shared their views with DPI about the exhibition.Central High School student, D’Angelo Edwards said: “I have learned a lot of things from this tour, though it is my first time here. It was a bit shocking because I had expected things to be different, but judging from today’s tour, it is amazing.”Amaya Northe, also from Central High School, said that though she, “was expecting to see more man-made items… it has been quite informative,” especially in light of her current study on the 1763 Monument.
