Unbeaten B/ce are title favourites

Some two weeks after the tournament was expected to conclude, the final of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Dave West Indian Imports Under-15 tournament 2018 is set to take place today at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Ground, Bourda, weather permitting.

Heavy rainfall was the main reason for the prolonged wait for the final to be played.

When play gets cracking today, defending champions Berbice will look to keep their 2018 season record unblemished when the take on Demerara in the final.

The Berbice side has not lost a game in the tournament and brushed aside Demerara in the second round.

As such, they will go into today’s final full of confidence. They are the only team to score in excess of 100 runs. Not to be outdone, their bowlers have been in fine form taking 30 wickets in the three matches with the spinners to the fore.

Demerara will be wary of their mistakes and look to remedy them after two weeks to get themselves ready. They too are former champions of the competition.

Demerara will be banking on Nicholas Rajpat and Movindra Dindyal, who both enjoyed success in the Demerara Cricket Board’s Inter-Association competition while Romel Datterdeen has been exceptional.

Both teams recorded wins over Essequibo and the President’s XI, the other teams in the competition.

The 50-overs-a-side match will from 9.30am.
