Bishops’ High School destroyed School of the Nations in the boys division when the Easter Term windball tournament continued at the National Gymnasium with eight high scoring matches of five over contests.
Nations, batting first posted 90 from their allotted overs led by Christopher Baljit who clobbered nine sixes in 67 while Darius Andrews contributed with 20. In reply, Bishops’ High, aided by some 21 extras romped home as Makayah Smith struck 41 and S. Chatram 29.
Tuen Hicks smashed 10 sixes in 68 to see David Rose post 99-2 and then restrict Queenstown Secondary to 92 with Jeffrey Blair (53) and Jonathan Bacchus (25) remaining unbeaten.
Diamond Secondary held their nerve whilst losing four wickets to nevertheless reach 127 as Mark Fredericks hammered a fine half century and Akeem Hendricks contributed 37.
However, that was not enough as Camille’s Institute for Business and Science Studies’ openers Alex Arinda (72) and John Pilay (42) mowed down the target.
In the girls category, Kuru Kuru Cooperative College defeated Queenstown by 31 runs after Aiesha Carmichael (38) and Jenecia Primo (34) helped them to reach 97-2. In reply, Queenstown, despite not losing a wicket, were restricted to 66 -0 as the overs ran out, leaving Charmaine Wattick and Kellisa Cozier stranded on 43 and 26 respectively.
Charlestown Government Secondary also successfully defended their total of 84 which they posted with openers Donna Lowe (47) and Makayla McRae (37) getting among the runs. Lodge Secondary was unable to rotate the strike and find the gaps in the small field as they reached 66-6 with Chrystal Grant (2-11), McRae (2-18) and Lowe (1-1) getting the wickets.
Brickdam scored the lowest total of the day, 46 and, as expected, Cummings Lodge Secondary made light work of it reaching 52 without losing a wicket. Sarah Amin and Cassay Charles scored 22 and 20 respectively.
Diamond Secondary won the toss and elected to field, a decision they soon regretted as Camille’s posted 138 with Alicia Davidson (69) and Angel Young (60) blasting 17 sixes between them. In reply, Diamond Secondary stumbled to 59-2. Davidson returned to bag 3-26. Whitney Bazillio was the only resistance with a fighting 20.
Diamond returned to blow away Soesdyke Secondary who posted 59-2 inside three overs with Ashanti Stephenson making 20 while Bazillio scored 26 to see them to victory a Diamond reached 60-1 in reply.
