(Trinidad Express) State-owned Petrotrin in now free to effectively terminate its multi-million-dollar contract with A&V Oil and Gas, the company at the heart of the “fake oil” scandal.
This comes after the Privy Council in London, England, dismissed an application by A&V on Monday to grant it permission to appeal the findings of the local court’s which had previously dismissed its civil suit against Petrotrin, challenging the legality of its move to end the contract.
Both the High Court and Court of Appeal ruled earlier this year that the company had no reasonable prospect of success in its claim.
