A Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway housewife and a Garden of Eden businessman were robbed at gunpoint of cash and other valuables, by two bandits on Saturday morning at about 11:30 hrs.
The bandits, one of whom was armed with a gun, arrived in a silver grey Toyota Fielder wagon motorcar bearing the licence plate HC 8265.
Police said the bandits pounced on the victims, Gaillard Doman, 44 and Mangal Vishnudatt, 43, at the latter’s place of business and demanded their valuables.
According to police, Doman had earlier visited the Guyana Bank of Trade & Industry branch at Diamond, East Bank Demerara, and withdrawn $100,000, before proceeding to Vishudatt’s business to make a purchase.
As Doman and Vishnudatt were conversing, police said that the two suspects exited from the front seats of the wagon. Once inside the store, the bandits held them at gun point and robbed them. After stealing their valuables, the bandits returned to the motorcar and fled the scene.
Doman was robbed of $100,000, a Samsung cellular phone, a gold chain and her car keys, while Vishunatt was relieved of $10,000 cash and a cellular phone.
Police are currently reviewing the surveillance footage in a bid to positively identify the suspects.
