Region Four helps family of man who lost both hands

The Regional Education Department of Region Four through its welfare department has reached out to assist a teacher whose husband was involved in an accident at the University of Guyana that resulted in both of his hands being amputated.A release yesterday from Region Four said that on December 17th, 2017 while working on one of the buildings in the University of Guyana compound, Melroy Pyle suffered electric shocks.His wife who teaches at the Clonbrook Primary and is the mother of his four children was forced to rearrange the life of her family and self. According to the release, it was reported that M and P Investment are the contractors of two new buildings being built in the University of Guyana compound. Pyle said that while he isn’t sure as to the relationship that currently exists between his former employer and the University, all he is aware of is that a dispute exists over who should take responsibility for what happened to him. He came into contact with live electric wires while working and almost lost his life. Pyle who was pursuing his Engineering Degree at the very university was forced to take some time off because of the accident. He related that at the time of the accident he was in his second year at the University and worked with M and P Investment part time as he pursued his academic qualifications. His wife who has been a teacher for the past nine years, the release said, was also pursuing university education at the University of Guyana and disclosed that she was also forced to halt her university education as she has been tasked solely with taking care of their four young children.As a result of the evident difficulties being faced by the Pyles, the Primary Division at the Department of Education handed over some supplies for which the family has openly expressed thanks and gratitude. Welfare Officer within the Region, Shevon Viphuist said at the Region Four Education department was moved by the unfortunate accident noting that they are cognisant that the family needs whatever assistance that they can get at this stage.
