A man was yesterday placed on $25,000 bail for allegedly attempting to rob a policeman.
It is alleged that Gavin Ally on March 2nd on Brickdam, in the company of others attempted to commit a felony when he attempted to rob Sham Beharry, a police officer.
Ally pleaded guilty to the charge and explained that he was hanging out with his friends when the man approached him and his friends and asked them if they wanted to snatch his phone. He then stated that he left with his friends. Ally said he saw the officer again the next night, who he claims then asked him for money. Ally said that he gave him $5,000 which the officer said was not enough, and he was then arrested.
The magistrate then entered a not guilty plea after Ally’s statement.
The prosecutor made no objections to bail.
Magistrate Fabayo Azore then placed the man on $25,000 bail and adjourned the matter until April 4th.
