Sixteen-year-old Sean Glasgow stroked his maiden Inter County century to lead Berbice past a Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) select U15 side by 115 runs in the opening round of the GCB Under – 17 tournament played at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Bourda, yesterday.
Glasgow, who is also a former national under – 15 player, strolled to the wicket with his side in a spot of bother at 29 – 2.
The right-hander then laced eight fours, one of which he opened his account with and slammed five sixes in a knock of 110 to see his side to 267 – 9 at the end of their allotted 50 overs.
He was ably supported by Nigel Deodat who made an even 50, coming in at number seven, with two boundaries while opener, Fawaz Gafoor made an aggressive 35 before being bowled by Jonathan Rampersaud.
Rampersaud, who bowled his way to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the just-concluded Inter County 50-overs-a-side tournament, was the pick of the bowlers with 2-50 while Zachary Jodah took 2 for 36 and Isaiah Thorne 3-30.
In reply, the National Select Under-15 were bundled out for 152 in the 49th over of their innings with Mavendra Dindyal top scoring with 32 from 71 balls.
Revoldo Phillips chipped in with 29 as Saif Amoi (3 – 30), skipper Jevon Schultz (2-36) and Deodat (2-21) helped to complete Berbice’s commanding win.
