The National Insurance Scheme (NIS) yesterday announced that the payments of old age pension increases that were announced in January can be uplifted from March 12th at all local offices.
In a statement issued yesterday, NIS Publicity and Public Relations Officer Dianne Lewis-Baxter reminded that the minimum pension has been increased from $27,500 to $30,000 per month, while those pensions above the minimum have been increased by 2%.
The increases are retroactive to January 1st, 2018. The statement reminded pensioners to walk with their NIS card and a valid form of identification when uplifting payments. Persons who are acting as representatives of pensioners are advised to walk with the relevant authorisation (P1 or P4) to uplift payments, it added.
It was also noted that survivors’ benefits and other pension payments are currently being processed and will be paid at a date to be announced shortly.
