Police Sports Club, Sunday defeated the Malteenoes Sports Club by an innings and 80 runs in their Georgetown Cricket Association Noble House Seafoods second division two day competition at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.
Malteenoes batted first and were dismissed for 99 to which Police Sports
Club responded with 244-8 declared. Batting a second time Malteenoes fared much were and were dismissed for 65.
Police dominated the entire day one with Malteenoes getting limited success other than two late wickets after resuming day two on 184-5.
M. Gonsalves moved his overnight score of 53 to 73 before he departed while K. Harcourt and V. Jaigobin contributed two fine cameos of 17 and 28 runs respectively.
Malcolm Watkins removing both of them to end with four wickets as Police declared with a lead of 145.
Watkins claiming 4-82 while Stephon Browne and Mellon Carmichael picked up 2-33 and 2-24 respectively.
In their second innings Malteenoes were indebted to opener Nkosie Barker who made the top scores of 40 as Hiemchan Persaud followed up his superb seven-wicket haul in the first innings with four more wickets while Eon Rodrigues picked up a five-wicket haul.
Barker’s opening partner, Browne, with 12 was the only other batsman to reach double figures as Persaud removed Carlos LaRose (1) and Clarence Baird (0) while bundling out Kefa Naughton for one. Rodriguez picked up Rawle Merrell (0), Carmichael (2) and Shaquille Moseley (5) in the thrashing.
Persaud ended with match figures of 11-40 while Rodriques had 5-28.
