A man was on Monday fined $100,000 by a city court after admitting to brutally assaulting a 16-year-old girl.
Ibenico Fredericks pleaded guilty to the charge that on March 5th, 2018, at East La Penitence, he assaulted the teen, causing actual bodily harm.
Based on the facts presented by Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore, Fredericks snatched the girl by her hair and threw her to the ground and dealt her several slaps.
He then armed himself with a scrubbing board and dealt her several lashes with it. When she made an attempt to escape, he then picked up a piece of steel pipe and beat her about her body.
The visible marks of violence about her body resulted in a report being made to the police.
Magistrate Judy Latchman fined the man $100,000 at an in-camera hearing.
