Ricardo Watson, who is accused of robbing a woman of gold chains, was on Monday remanded to prison.
The charge against him alleges that on January 14th, 2018, at Bourda Market, Watson robbed Kerryann Heywood of two gold chains, valued $215,000.
Watson pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Police prosecutor Arvin Moore stated that Heywood was walking along Bourda Street when the defendant came up from behind and snatched the chains. It was noted that she had a good look at the accused. Moore further stated that the defendant was subsequently positively identified by the victim, who saw him within the vicinity of the Monaco nightclub and summoned the police.
He objected to bail being granted based on the seriousness of the offence, while voicing his fear that Watson would not return for trial.
As a result, Magistrate Judy Latchman remanded the man to prison and adjourned the matter until March 26th.
