Devon Adams, 36, who police say was found with over five pounds of ganja, was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge of possession of narcotics for trafficking after a court was told that he was also found with a hand grenade.
The charge alleges that Adams on March 14th, 2018, at Cummings Park, Greater Georgetown, had 2.510 kilogrammes (equivalent to 5.5 pounds) of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Adams pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him by Georgetown magistrate Leron Daly.
While his attorney stated that the narcotic was found at a home where Adams was not present, the police prosecutor objected to bail and stated that there is enough evidence to convict the accused, who reportedly admitted to the offence in a caution statement. He also said Adams is to face an additional charge as he was found with a hand grenade.
Magistrate Daly subsequently denied bail and adjourned the matter until April 5th, when it will be heard by Chief Magistrate.
