Tactical Services United, Headquarters, President’s Guard, and `E’ and `Divisions recorded victories in the latest matches of the Police Commissioner’s T20 Cup competition following matches recently at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.
In the first contest, Headquarters thumped Officers by 10 wickets. Officers batted first and were dismissed out for 100 in 14 overs.
M. Gonzales scored 57 with eight fours and three sixes while there were 27 extras.
S. Harris picked up 2-31 and E. Ramcharan, 2-10.
In reply, J. Benn blasted 30 not out with two fours and one six while Kevin Boodie pounded a 23-ball 68 not out as Headquarters reached the target in a mere eight overs. A Lyte stroked eight fours and eight sixes in an unbeaten 80 as `E’ Division made light work of their 112-run chase in their match against `C’ Division, losing only four wickets in the process.
Earlier S. Sukdeo (4-10) and L. Sears (3-3) were the principal wicket takers as ‘C’ Division made 111 with K. Adams (24) and A. Anderson (20) being the main run getters.
‘G’ Division posted 172-7 from their allotted overs with Fazer Khan blasting 65 and Alex Alvin (29) and then restricted ‘D’ Division to 166-7.
`D’ Division were looking on course to reach the target with K. Michael (47) and R. Browne (17) putting on a 60 run stand after T. Heyliger fell for 30.
‘B’ Division, in their match against the President’s Guards, struggled to reach 78 as P. London (3-10) made batting difficult for the Berbice boys. Only three batsmen managed to reach double figures. London returned with the bat to smack 32 in a 50-run partnership with P. Tyndall (20) and seal victory for the President’s Guards.
TSU had the better of `D’ Division who batted first and were bowled out for 86 with A. Welcome (13) and M. Peters (12) being the only two batsmen to reach double figures.
I. Rodriguez (3-16) and N. Williams (3-13) were impressive but it was L. Narine who bowled four overs for just eight runs and picked up four wickets.
In reply, R. Adams (27) and T. Tucker (18) needed only six overs to see TSU reach the required target.
The action continues today at the same venue with President’s Guards taking on `F’ Division Flyers and Training School battling TSU.
