A North West District farmer was yesterday placed on $40,000 bail after he denied charges of larceny and using threatening language.
It is alleged that on March 8th, 2018, Leon Archer, 24, at Kumaka Waterfront, stole a television set, valued $35,000, which was the property of Lolita Wang. It was further alleged that Archer on March 8th, at Kumaka Waterfront, stole a silver chain, valued $4,000, and five cards of Panadol tablets, valued $500.
Archer was also charged with making use of threatening language to Robert Persaud on March 20th, at Kumaka Waterfront.
Archer pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.
Acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus placed the man on $40,000 bail for the first larceny charge and released him on self-bail for the other charges. The magistrate also placed the man on a bond, while warning him that he would be jailed for three weeks if he is held for any other offences prior to the determination of the charges.
The matter was adjourned until May 21st, when it will be heard at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court.
