Dear Editor,
Sunil Ambris, a very promising young cricketer had some incredibly negative experiences recently in New Zealand on his first tour. In successive Test matches he was out early by the hit-wicket route, and then incurred a severe hand injury. These experiences are so unusual that I doubt you would find parallels in the whole history of the game. I wrote letters to the editor immediately after the game urging the board of Cricket West Indies, the Windward board and the Vincentian board to assist the young man with psychological support, as I believed the odds were very high that such an experience would have lasting negative impact. My letters were not published. I have heard nothing of Ambris since. Would the President of the Board please consider looking into this matter.
Yours faithfully,
Romain Pitt
