Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) romped to a seven wicket win over Bel Air Rubis while Transport Sports Club (TSC) registered a six wicket win over Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/ Toucan Distributors Under-17 55-overs-a-side competition yesterday. Playing at Gandhi Youth Organization ground, Bel Air won the toss and decided to bat on good wicket. They were only able to face 34.2 of the overs allocated as DCC dismissed the entire team for 123 runs. Rudranauth Kissoon top scored with 32 while Daniel Sooklall and Steve Sukhail contributed 29 each.
Gustavo Kadeem was the most effective bowler picking up 5-15 from just 2.2 overs.
DCC coasted to 126-3 from the same amount of overs with James Campbell top scoring with 28. Ezekiel Wilson (27) and Jonathan Van Lange (27) saw DCC home.
Over at Muslim Youth Organization (MYO) the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) batted first and posted 128 all out from 42.2 overs.
In reply, TSC needed just 25.3 overs to secure the win by six wickets.
Aryan Persaud was the top scorer for GCC with 44 including six fours and two sixes while Mitra Dhanraj upped the scoring rate with a cameo of 28 that saw him hitting off spinner Dave Mohabir for three consecutive sixes over mid-wicket.
Right-arm, medium-pacer, Mervin Permaul, impressed with 3-14 from his 10 overs including five maidens while Riyad Latif and Alvin Mohabir picked up two wickets each. Tattesh Shivrattan led the chase with an unbeaten 38 and extras assisted with 39 runs to the total as TSC reached 134-4.
