Defending champions Demerara Cricket Club defeated St Stanislaus College by 113 runs while Everest, Transport Sports Club and Malteenoes Sports Club registered wins in the second round of the Guyana Diabetic Association/ Georgetown Cricket Association U-17 T20 tournament.
DCC chalked up 212-2 from their 29 overs with former West Indies U-15 captain Sachin Singh blasting an undefeated 96 while wicketkeeper/ batsman Gerrick Persaud made 81. Singh struck eight sixes from the 48 deliveries faced while Persaud smacked 13 boundaries in their brutal partnership of 206.
In response, Saints were restricted to 99 all out in 14 overs with only openers Mahendra Veeraj (23) and Daniel Persaud (25) reaching double figures.
Daniel Mootoo bagged 5-26 and Indergeet Nanan 3-17.
Earlier, Everest bowled out GNIC for 69 in 14 overs as Ronaldo Mohammed picked up 3-7 from four overs while Aaron Beharry supported with 2-12.
Brently Singh was the only batsman to find form with 25. It took Mohammed Jameer and Mohammed all but 14 overs to chase down the target and secure a 10-wicket win with both batsmen on 23 not out.
Over at Malteenoes Sports Club, the hosts defeated Gandhi Youth Organization by 30 runs after posting 110-8 from their allotted overs with Wayne Bollers and captain T. Shivrattan both scoring 16 and Jester McAllister top scoring with 18. Yeudister Persaud and Dwain Dick both tried valiantly but fell for 28 and 13 respectively as Shivrattan, Mervin Permaul and Bollers picked up two wickets each.
Transport also defeated GCC by 30 runs.
