Independence `A’ recorded the highest total ever in West Demerara limited overs cricket scoring 466-7 to defeat All Youths who were dismissed for 266 in the latest match of the West Demerara Cricket Association, President’s Cup at Joe Vieira Park Sunday.
Batting first after winning the toss, Safraz Easu top scored with 140 from 88 balls with eight sixes and seven fours while Beepaul Bandoo struck a 36-ball 108 with 14 sixes and four fours.
Vivian Beckles narrowly missed a century, hitting 12 fours and five sixes, in making 95 from 57 balls.
Anthony Carrington picked up 2-61 from 10 overs.
In reply, Anthony top scored with 69, while Ganesh Persaud made 60 and Patrick Edwards 57 but All Youth were dismissed in the 39th over with Katharine Etwaroo bagging 5-46.
Meanwhile at Canal Number Two ground, McGill defeated the hosts by 59 runs after making 163 from 34.2 overs with Prahalad Singh top scoring with 65 and Shafiek Deen contributing 19. Keshram Seyodhan took 4-18 while Anthony Ifill supported with two wickets.
In reply, Canal Number Two fell for 104 with Anand Persaud top scoring with 20 while Deen, Abdool Razack, Jagdesh Balgobin and Travis Persaud each took two wickets.
