GCC bounced back to winning ways with a 258 run drubbing of Queen’s College, after compiling 298 runs in the Georgetown Cricket Association/ Toucan Distributors Under-15 tournament yesterday at the Gandhi Youth Organization Ground.
Winning the toss, the Bourda based team decided to take first strike on a lovely track with short boundaries. GCC capitalized on their fortune of the toss, as Ariyan Persaud registered his first ton of the tournament, a fine knock of 112, which included 16 fours and four sixes. Mitchra Dhanraj followed up two good bowling performances, with a quick cameo of 37, which saw seven deliveries hitting the fence. Rivaldo Phillips was also amongst the runs with a handy 36, as GCC were dismissed for 298 in 47.3 overs.
Burdens Persaud shone with the ball, grabbing 4-26, as Ruele Prashad took 2-54.
In reply, Queens College stumbled to a humiliating total of 40 all out, in just nine overs. Persaud completed a wonderful match, by becoming the first player this year to score a ton and take six wickets in the same match. Joash Charles supported with 3-23, in the trampling of the inexperienced Queen’s College side.
