Guyana recorded their second victory, in as many matches, in the Regional Under-15 tournament being played in Jamaica, as they roared to a 79-run win over the Leeward Islands yesterday in a rain hit match.
Batting first Guyana began shakily, slipping to four wickets down before reaching fifty, when the rains interrupted and forced the match to be reduced to 43 overs. Jonathan Rampersaud lead the resurgence after the rains to blast 69, while Nicholas Rajpat supported well, as Guyana folded for 148, four balls short of their quota of overs.
Hilroy Andrews was the main destroyer, picking up 4-22 in his nine overs, while Glen Williams bagged 3-21, in five.
Guyana’s bowling was nearly unplayable, as they dismissed the Leewards for a disappointing 69, in 25 overs. Jeremey Sandia led the charge, picking up three wickets in his five overs, with an economy rate of four, as Chanderpaul Ramraj supported with two wickets for just three runs. Isia Thorne, Mahendra Gopilall and Zachary Jodha, each bagged one wicket.
