Turfites get ready, the first leg of the inaugural Triple Crown Series will run off today at the Port Mourant Turf Club.
This is according to CEO of the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee, Nasrudeen Mohamed Jr.
Mohamed Jr. said yesterday that the Committee will proceed with the three legs instead of cancelling the first leg which was scheduled to be staged last month but was then canceled due to inclement weather. The second leg will be staged on April 29 at Rising Sun while a date will be set for the finale.
For the three legs, the C Class, 1200m event with a bounty of $1M each will be the main attraction.
The seven-race card will also include events for trotters in the F Class and lower, Three-Year old Guyana Bred, H and Lower, J/K and lower, K Class non earners and L and lower.
In excess of 70 horses have registered for a slice of the $8M in total prize money today.
Mohamed Jr., also noted that many incentives including the grand prize of a car will still be for the taking for lucky attendees. Admission is set at $1500 and start time is 12:45hrs.
