Malteenoes sports club (MSC) defeated their counterparts from Everest by four wickets in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) New York Tri-State under – 19 cup at GYO, yesterday.
The day began with Everest winning the toss and electing to bat. They were bundled out for 174 inside 43 overs with opener Raynaldo Mohammed leading the way with an excellent 64 which included eight boundaries.
He received support from Niran Bissu (29) and fellow Ushar – Deva Balgobin (18) who were the other main contributors to the total.
Ray Saeechrran’s 3-17 from six overs led the way for MSC while Ntini Permaul (2-22) and Chad Shivrattan (2-34) all had handy figures for MSC who began their run chase solidly with openers Tuen Hicks (42) and Wayne Mc Pherson (59) adding 93 for the opening stand to send their side well on their way. Hicks before his demise laced five boundaries and his partner five more than him in their entertaining stand.
Their wickets however spurred a mini-collapse before Wayne Bollers (18 not out) and Shivrattan (seven not – out) saw their side home to 175 – 6 in 30 overs. Bissu’s 2 – 41 threatened after removing Hicks and dangerous Jeremiah Scott (4) before MSC found a way to sneak home.
