Andrew Motilall, the man who is accused of opening fire on a group of domino players at Mahaica two months ago leaving two persons wounded was on Wednesday charged with two counts of attempted murder and released on $600,000 bail.
Motilall, a resident of Helena, Mahaica is accused of attempting to kill labourer, Teron Gordon and Marlon Browne, a farmer. He denied the allegations when he appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Mahaicony Magistrate’s Court and was granted $300,000 bail on each offence.
The matter was adjourned to April 20 when it will be called again in the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court.
Commander of ‘D’ Division, Edmond Cooper had told Stabroek News that Motilall was arrested around 8pm on Monday at a location in Annandale, East Coast Demerara. Twenty-three-year-old Gordon and Browne, 33, were both shot during the incident which occurred at Belmont, Mahaica on the evening of January 28.
Gordon and Browne were rushed to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital where the former was treated for a gunshot wound to the left side of his abdomen and left forearm, while the latter was tended to for a gunshot wound to the left side of his chest.
