The New York Under-19 team scored a 39-run victory over Transport Sports Club in the Georgetown Cricket Association New York Tri-State U19 tournament at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary yesterday.
Batting first, New York posted 305 all out from 49 overs.
Raymond Ramrattan continued his superb form with 48 to follow up on his century the previous day.
He was denied a half century owing to some brilliant glove work from the wicketkeeper after he chipped down the wicket to Mark Moonsammy and was stumped.
Daoud Mohamed chipped in with 47 while six other batsmen got starts but failed to carry on.
Antonio got the most reward from the flat track as he chipped away at the New York line up, eventually finishing with three wickets while Mark Baptiste and Joshua Blackman picked up two wickets each.
Antonio and Moonsammy returned to help their team chase down the imposing total but received little support from the rest of the order.
Antonio notched up his half century with some classy stroke play, one of which was an effortless hoist off of Aaron Seepersaud into the main pavilion fence, one of his four boundaries. When Antonio, the aggressor of the two fell for 71, Moonsammy followed for a fine innings of 44. Jamal Michael who batted at 10 resisted for all but 15 runs as Transport rolled over for 266.
Seepersaud picked up 3-42.
Meanwhile over at GNIC, GCC defeated Gandhi Youth Organization by 83 runs.
GCC batted first and faced 27 overs but by then Dodi O’Selmo had clobbered half a dozen sixes and Shamer Ryan, four sixes on their way to 49 and 36 respectively to help GCC post 179. Rohan Suknandan picked up five wickets while Hritik Singh bagged 4-38.
In the chase Ansuga Rodriquez impressed with 2-8 while Lester Cupidore 2-17 helped dismiss GYO for 96 in 20 overs. GYO contributed to their own demise with below par running between the wickets that resulted in three run outs.
Opening batsman Yeudister Persaud made a fighting 31 while skipper Dwain Dick managed 15.
