Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), New York (NY) and Bel Air Rubis (BAR) recorded convincing wins when the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/ New York/Tri-State Under-19 tournament continued yesterday.
Playing at home, GCC defeated Guyana National Industrial Company (GNIC) by three wickets.
Similarly, NY coasted to a three-wicket victory over Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) at the Malteenoes Sports Club ground while BAR stunned Everest Cricket Club by 97 runs at Ogle.
GNIC batted first but folded for 92 with Euan Blair top scoring with 33.
Lester Cupidore was rampant securing a five-wicket haul in a six-over spell. In reply, GCC opening batsman Andsuegga Rodriguez top scored with 33 while Shamar Ryan batting lower down the order played well for his unbeaten 28.
Meanwhile, in-form NY continued their dominance, this time with the ball, bowling out GYO in 26 overs for 144. Wicketkeeper and opening batsman, Yeudister Persaud missed out on a century smacking 12 sixes and two fours on his way to 96.
However, apart from Persaud and skipper Dwain Dick, who slammed three fours in his cameo 16, no other batsman took on the challenge.
Yash Khanguru bowled arguably the spell of the tournament with 10 overs, eight of which were maidens and taking 4-6. Gotham Ramdurdran and Aaron Seepersaud picked up two wickets each as GYO tried wholeheartedly to pull off the upset, chipping away at the wickets.
But Isiah Jadernanda 33 and Ashkay Homraj 28 played sensibly enough to secure the win.
In the final match of the day, Everest skittled out BAR for 171 with Andrew Samaroo top scoring with 58.
Samaroo struck three fours and two sixes before being bowled by Marlon Boele who captured 5-26 while left-arm orthodox spinner, Raynaldo Mohamed picked up two wickets in successive deliveries to finish with 2-28.
Ariel Tilku was unlucky having five catches dropped off his medium pace bowling. He ended with just one wicket.
In reply, Everest, 62-1 at one stage, crumbled to 74 all out.
Tilku (16) and Joshua Rampersaud (15) shared a half century partnership before Keshore Seepersaud, 3-6 and Saqid Khan, 3-4 went to work.
