The Guyana Boxing Association (GBA)/Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) first Michael Parris/Pepsi U-16 championships for the year will commence today at 17:00hrs at the National Gymnasium.
This year marks the sixth anniversary of the tournament which is traditionally staged twice or more per year.
According to GBA president, Steve Ninvalle, the event will involve in excess of 40 boxers from gyms like Savannah, Young Achievers, Carryl Boxing Gym, Essequibo Boxing Gym, Harpy Eagles, Forgotten Youth Foundation (FYF), Rose Hall Jammers and the Pocket Rocket Boxing Gym competing for medals.
Ninvalle, who also encouraged boxing fans to attend the competition, reminded that the event is geared for boxers 16 years and under.
