Colin ‘Superman’ Lewis’ medal hunt at the Commonwealth Games currently ongoing in Australia ended yesterday with a decision loss to South African, Sinethemba Blom.
According to the Games’ official website, Lewis lost 1-4 in the 64kg, round of 16 bout versus Blom.
Earlier in the round of 32, Lewis had defeated St Lucian, Nathan Ferrari 4-1 to advance.
Guyana’s hopes of medaling at the Games in the sport of boxing now rests on the shoulders of Keevin Allicock (52kg) who springs into action today against Reece McFadden.
The silver medalist at last year’s Commonwealth Youth Games will match gloves with the Scot, a bronze medalist at the last Commonwealth Games.
Allicock and McFadden are scheduled to take the ring at 17:17hrs Australia time.
