An East La Penitence man was on Friday remanded to prison on charges of robbery and the possession of ganja.
It is alleged that Emmanuel Larry on April 5th, 2018, at Longden Street, robbed Christopher Rambarran of a cellphone, valued $44,000, and $27,000 in cash and used personal violence, before, during or after committing the offence.
It was further alleged that Larry on the same date at Brickdam Police Station, while in custody, had 16 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
It is the police’s case that around 7.30 pm, Rambarran was walking along Longden Street when Larry, who was in the company of others, approached him, choked him and took his valuables. A police officer who was in the vicinity at the time witnessed the attack and subsequently apprehended the accused. The rank searched Larry and discovered the stolen items.
The prosecutor objected to bail being granted based on the serious nature of the offence.
As a result, Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly refused bail.
