Guyana’s hopes of winning a medal in the sport of boxing at the ongoing Common-wealth Games in Australia ended yesterday when the promising Keevin Allicock dropped a close decision to Scotland’s Reece McFadden in their 52kg bout.
The Common-wealth Youth silver medalist lost 30-27, 29-28×3 and 28-29 on the five scorecards against the bronze medalist at the last Commonwealth Games.
Allicock’s 1-4 loss comes on the heels of Guyana’s other boxing representative at the Games, Colin Lewis also dropping a 1-4 verdict against Sinethemba Blom of South Africa in their 64kg contest on Saturday.
