The lorry, GJJ 3883, was being driven by Andrew Sookram when the accident occurred at about 4 pm. The driver was heading in the direction of Georgetown at the time.
According to a report from ‘A’ Division Commander Leslie James, Sookram was navigating a turn when he lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway. It was stated that the truck was at the time heavily loaded with chopped fire wood.
Sookram, who resides at Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, along with Fazad Ally and Shara Hafiz, both of Diamond New Scheme, were all taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where they were admitted for medical attention.
