The Miss World Guyana (MWG) Organisation yesterday revealed the 15 semi-finalists vying for the title of Miss World Guyana 2018, and shared plans for more public involvement in the execution of the pageant.Those shortlisted are: Joylyn Conway, Ambika Ramraj, Farisha Razak, Lalita Baliram, Esther Hercules, Ashana Major, Donnette Linton, Breeanka West, Lateifha Goodluck, Farina Mursaline, Dianna Persaud, Tracy Smith, Nichola Munroe, Andrea Marslowe and Kemmeca Miller.Eleven of the contestants met with Minister of Social Cohe-sion Dr George Norton at a press conference held at the Ministry of Social Cohesion’s office on Main Street, George-town, yesterday.At the conference, Managing Director of the pageant Roshni Boodhoo-Persaud spoke with Minister Norton about ways that the ministry and the country at large can be involved in making the pageant bigger and the ways that the ministry can collaborate with the organisers.This year’s competition will allow the public to be more involved, particularly in the Sports and Fitness event, which will be held at the Lusignan Golf Course; the Beauty with a Purpose showcase, to be held on Main Street; and the Talent and Fashion Show, which will include personalities from the much-hyped Guyana Carnival, a partner of the MWG this year.Ten of the 15 contestants will be selected to progress to the finals. These 10 finalists will be selected on May 4th, at the Pegasus Poolside. Each of the 10 delegates will represent an administrative region in Guyana and their Beauty with a Purpose project will focus on issues within that region.The organisation intends on educating the contestants about sustainability and ways to integrate their projects to serve the various communities.On the 25th of May at the Pegasus Hotel, a queen will be crowned and that queen will represent Guyana on the international stage in China, come December 2018.
