Three men were each granted their release on $50,000 bail last Friday after they denied being found with a water pump, which is suspected to have been stolen.
The charge against Jermaine McLeod, of 122 Meadow Brook, East La Penitence, Michael Howes, 18, of 103 Middle Road East La Penitence, and Kenrick Charles, 25, of 110 Eccles Park, East Bank Demerara, alleged that they had a water pump, suspected to be stolen or unlawfully obtained, in their possession on April 10th at Kitty, Georgetown.
All of three men pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was read by Magistrate Leron Daly in Georgetown.
Prosecutor Sanj Singh told the court that on the day in question, police ranks were on patrol when they stopped a car that the men were travelling in. A search was subsequently conducted on the vehicle and the pump was found in the trunk. The defendants were questioned and none of them gave a reasonable explanation for how they came to be in possession of it.
Magistrate Daly subsequently released the men on $50,000 bail each and adjourned the matter until April 27th.
