Essequibo and the Select XI’s second round match of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/ Hand In Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance three-day U19 tournament ended in a damp draw after rain washed out yesterday’s third and final day’s play.
Essequibo and the Select U-17 had both suffered first round losses but Essequibo looked to capitalize on a rare win in the longer format ending the second day’s play 48 runs ahead.
Yesterday’s result at the Everest Cricket club, Camp Road means that both teams remain winless in the four team competition.
Batting first, Essequibo were bowled out for 290 in their first innings with Kurt Lovell top scoring with 49.
The Select U-17 were bowled out for 144 with Navendra Persaud scoring a 228-ball 52 while Joshua Jones and Joel Fortune picked up five wickets each.
Essequibo were 4-0 in their second innings.
