A Brazilian national reportedly bled to death on Sunday after he was chopped on his hand during an argument over a female at a shop in Quartz Stone backdam, Cuyuni.
Dead is Adrin Sousa Santos, 46, a miner.
Stabroek News was informed that Santos was chopped twice on his right hand during the incident. He reportedly collapsed and bled to death before he was transported to the hospital.
Commander of ‘F’ Division (ag) Kevin Adonis yesterday told Stabroek News that a team of ranks were deployed to the scene on Sunday afternoon and returned on Monday evening.
He said the 23-year-old suspect was arrested and remains in custody as the investigation continues.
Initial investigations revealed that Santos went to a shop where he met the female and her fiancé imbibing.
Whilst there, Santos and the fiancé were involved in a ‘talking’ about the female after which the suspect left. He later returned, armed with a cutlass and dealt Santos two chops.
The suspect is expected to be charged soon.
