The ongoing investigation into the February 23rd fire at Victoria Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, which claimed a life and destroyed three properties, including an apartment building, has found that the origin of the blaze wasn’t electrical.
“What we do know about this fire is that it occurred as a [result of] direct human causation, it wasn’t electrical,” a Guyana Fire Service source, who is close to the investigation, told Stabroek News.
The source added that it is yet to be determined if the fire was caused due to the actions of a mentally unstable resident, who was considered a person of interest by investigators.
