The newly-elected executive of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has organized its first major activity since being elected to office, which happens to be the national junior and senior table tennis championships set to serve off in May.
The association according to a release, will see its calendar of events accommodating three separate showdowns with the senior leg scheduled for 20-23 of May 2018 while the junior leg is scheduled for June 2 – 4, 2018 and the national veterans and doubles championships is slated for later this year in September.
“The executive committee felt that the hosting of the championships which was absent in 2017 was very critical to … structuring some of the key aforementioned aspects of the sport. The prospectus for the championships will be released and disseminated to players, coaches, clubs and districts,” the release noted.
The categories to be contested in the junior division will range from girl’s and boy’s nine years and under to boy’s and girl’s 18 years and under.
The categories for the senior division will include men’s and women’s singles, B and C class open singles, and the 21 years and under male and female singles.
The championships are open to all nationals of Guyana and who are eligible to represent the national association (GTTA) according to the ITTF Handbook 2017-2018. Prizes will be awarded to the first 1st four places in each division.
