Police on Thursday announced that they have destroyed around 30,000 cultivated marijuana plants, ranging from one to six feet in height, which were found on an acre and a half of land in ‘B’ Division (Berbice).
In a statement, Superinten-dent of Police Shivpersaud Bacchus said the plants as well as a quantity of seeds that were also found were destroyed by a team that went to Ebini, Upper Berbice River, for a drug eradication operation. The plants and seeds were burnt.
Bacchus noted that a 25-year-old resident of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, is in custody in connection with the cultivation.
