The Guyana Peace Council (GPC) has noted with deep interest the decision taken by the Government of Cuba to transfer power as President of Cuba to Mr Miguel Diaz-Canel.
The GPC is confident that the revolutionary stance taken by the governments under the leadership of the late Fidel and his brother Raul Castro would be further advanced under the leadership of President Diaz-Canel
The Guyana Peace Council is aware of the high esteem in which the new President is being held not only by the membership and leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba but by the Cuban people as a whole and takes the opportunity to wish him well in the execution of his office as President.
The GPC also expresses its appreciation to former President Raul Castro for so ably leading the Cuban nation despite the enormous challenges caused by the continuing US embargo against the country.
