Kirsten Gomes and Sarah Klautky scored twice while Abosaide Cadogan scored the opening goal as Bingo Spartans defeated St Stanislaus 5-1 in the Guyana Hockey Board U19 female developmental outdoor league at the St. Stanislaus Ground on Saturday.
With the ever present rains dampening the games, Cadogan provided the only goal of the first half, beating the St Stanislaus goalkeeper, Donyle Nurse in the third minute. In the second half, Klautky pierced the net in the 21st and 33rd minutes while Gomes capped off an injury free match with back-to-back goals in the 36 and 39 minutes. Kizia Chinian scored the lone goal for Saints.
In the second female U-19 match, St. Joseph needled Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Hurricanes through a 37th minute strike from Janelle Frederick.
In the boys category, Joseph Warriors mirrored the success of their female counterparts, beating North Ruimveldt Multilateral 4-1. Nandalall Persaud got Warriors on the board with a goal in the 14th minute while Warren Williams scored two powerful goals that rocketed into the nets in the 23rd and 32nd minute. Shaquain Favourite reduced the deficit with a goal for North Ruimveldt in the 36th minute but Persaud registered his second in the penultimate minute of the 40 minute contest.
Old Fort edged past Saints Splinters 4-3. Splinters netted in the fifth minute while Oshazay Savory netted 10 minutes later and Leroy Geer scored in the 29th minute but Omar Hopkinson scored a double and Jamal Gaskin and Kedar Hopkinson scored a goal each for Old Fort. In the second division category, Senior Saints defeated Hikers Cadets 3-0 with Robert Fernandes scoring twice and a goal from Kevin Edwards doing the job.
Also Bounty GCC emerged victorious 3-1 against Saints U19s. Karem McKenzie, Meshach Sargeant and Shaquile Leung were the goal scorers for Bounty GCC while Shakeem Fausette scored the lone goal for Saints U19s.
