Elton Dharry’s promotional team, Havoc Boxing is staying true to their word of making 2018 a busy year for the national bantamweight champion.
Following a bruising unanimous decision victory against a game Jesus Vargas on January 20 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Dharry is scheduled to be in the ring again on May 18 in Queens, New York.
According to the Brooklyn, New York-based boxer, he will be fighting Oscar Mojica in a 10-round contest on a card dubbed ‘Making of a Champion’.
Originally scheduled to fight Miguel Cartagena last month for the IBF Continental title, Dharry told Stabroek Sport yesterday that the change in opponent was just a speed bump on his road to a world title. The 32 year-old added “I feel really good and training is going well. This fight is going to set up at title for me, so I’m working hard.”
Guyana’s most exciting 118-pound fighter also mentioned that he was thankful for the overwhelming support received from the local fans and well wishers and disclosed that he cannot wait to step back in the ring and do the 592 proud once again.
Dharry is riding a wave which consists of a 19-fight winning streak and he is hungry for a win in 24 days to catapult him in the top 15 rankings. His ultimate aim in 2018 or early next year, is to land a world title shot.
