Cycling action returns to the Ancient County of Berbice tomorrow, with the staging of a 60-mile road race in observance of Indian Arrival Day.
The Trojan Cycle Club organized event is open to all interested cyclists It gets rolling at 14:30hrs and will be staged around the streets of New Amsterdam.
Cash prizes and trophies will be on offer for the first six finishers in the Open category, as well as the first three veterans, the first four juniors, the first three juveniles and females in the event, which is sponsored by the Berbice Chamber of Commerce and Development Association (BCCDA).
Numerous prime prizes will also be up for grabs.
The Indian High Commissioner to Guyana or a representative from the High Commission is expected to be on hand to witness the proceedings, as well as the Chairman of Region Six, the Mayor of New Amsterdam and other dignitaries.
President of BCCDA, Ryan Crawford, pointed out that the activity is being held to comemmorate the special day and it is part of BCCDA’s effort in giving back to the community.
With Hamzah Eastman and Romello Crawford currently on international duties in Argentina, Jamal John, Paul DeNobrega, Curtis Day, Alonzo Ambrose, Chris Griffith and Junior Niles will be the ones to keep an eye on.
