Guyana’s premier wheelsman, Hamzah Eastman (+01m: 49s) placed 77th from 80 finishers in the Elite Men 176km XXIII Pan-American Road Championship, which was staged on Sunday in San Juan, Argentina.
The event which concluded on Sunday was attended by 28 countries and some 240 athletes from the Americas.
Colombian, Juan Sebastián Molano won the gold medal after a devilish sprint after three hours, 52 minutes and 54 seconds of intense racing.
Molano prevailed over Maxi Richeze – the Argentine considered the best sprint pitcher in the world – and behind came the Chilean Cristopher Mansilla to close the podium.
Cuba headed the medal table with two gold, one silver and one bronze, ahead of Colombia (2-0-1) and Argentina (1-3-0).
