Former Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh and former Head of the National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL) Winston Brassington are currently at the headquarters of the Special Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) being questioned.
The two men appeared in court yesterday on three charges of misconduct in public office and were released on $6m bail each.
Attorney at law Anil Nandlall told reporters that the two men are being questioned about more than ten other land sale matters and are expected to be questioned for several more hours. They arrived at the location just before 9am in the company of several attorneys.
He said the men are being questioned separately before noting that “none of this makes any legal sense….What you are seeing here is a charade and a masquerade”.
