A 60-year-old man who says he suffers from prostate cancer, was yesterday remanded to prison, after he denied being in possession of almost 60 pounds of cannabis.
Edgar Bollers stood in the courtroom of Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, who read him a charge which stated that he, on May 7, at Haslington, East Coast Demerara, had 27.170 kilogrammes (equivalent to 59.8 pounds) of cannabis in his possession.
Bollers denied the charge.
Police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield told the court that the file in relation to the matter is incomplete.
The accused then told the court that he suffers from prostate cancer, to which the Chief Magistrate stated that a note would be made on his warrant.
Bollers was then remanded to prison, and is set to make his next court appearance on May 29, at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court.
